We were in the airport once, waiting for our flight to be called. A woman approached where we were sitting and asked if we could watch her bags while she went to get something. My husband said (jokingly, of course!) that she'd have to leave us her passport. She looked surprised, but took it out and gave it to him! We were in hysterics, and my husband had to quickly explain that he'd been joking.

In my building, they only read the meter every second bill. For the other bills, they do an estimate. But it does say on the bill that it's an estimate (in the spot where it is supposed to have the meter reading). And we get a 5 shekel discount because they don't have to send someone to read the meter. Sometimes the bill is under, sometimes it's over, and sometimes I get them to issue a new bill for the correct reading (only when the estimate bill is higher, not lower!)
